What is the Keto Diet?

The keto diet is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet. This reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. When this happens, your body starts to burn fat for energy instead of glucose.

Diet tips:

  1. Minimize carbohydrate intake, including sugary drinks, sweets, and starchy foods like rice, noodles, bread, pasta, potatoes, and beans.
  2. Increase healthy fat intake. Consider adding coconut oil to your diet for its anti-inflammatory properties and its potential role in supporting energy conversion during ketosis.
  3. Maintain adequate protein intake to prevent muscle loss.
  4. Use low-calorie, low-carb alternatives such as shirataki noodles, shirataki tofu, low-sugar and low-carb spreads, etc.
  5. Increase fiber intake, which includes leafy greens and seeds like flaxseeds and chia seeds for satiety and digestive support.
  6. Drink plenty of water to aid in fat metabolism and overall health.
  7. Pay attention to your body's response and health indicators like blood sugar and cholesterol levels, making adjustments as needed.
